The Hospitality Association of Namibia

The Hospitality Association of Namibia (HAN) has since its inception in 1987 grown from an initial 16 members to a total of close to 400 members. HAN represents the full spectrum of the hospitality industry from hotels, to guest houses, guest farms, lodges, rest camps, restaurants, conference centres and catering services.

Service is key to the hospitality sector, and as such, HAN has identified 5 core values for the association and its members that focus on the need and essence to serve guests, the industry and the country. SERVE is thus the word that summarizes HAN’s core values that speak to Service, Excellence, Respect, Value and Ethics in all operations HAN members engage in.

As the Namibian uranium exploration and mining activities take place in a prime tourist destination area, NUI is cooperating with HAN in order to find synergies and minimize any negative impact that the uranium activities could have on the tourism sector. News were therefore received with great pride, when the Tourism Personality of the Year 2019 winner was announced to be NUA’s Werner Ewald, General Manager of Bannerman Resources Namibia. HAN described him as a person who goes out of his way to assist in tourism route infrastructure development, and buys into initiatives of tourism without benefit or return for his company.
