Valencia Uranium (Pty) Ltd Empowers Arandis Youth with N$80,000 Donation to NIMT

Arandis, Namibia – Wednesday 19th March 2025

Valencia Uranium (Pty) Ltd has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and education by donating N$80,000 to the Namibian Institute of Mining and Technology (NIMT) in Arandis. The funds will cover registration fees for twenty local youths, giving them access to quality technical education and a pathway to long-term employment.

During the handover ceremony, the Mayor of Arandis, Barnabas Kambara, praised Valencia Uranium for the generous gesture and expressed hope for a lasting partnership that would ultimately lead to permanent job opportunities for students at the mine. He encouraged the beneficiaries to fully embrace the opportunity and not take it for granted.

NIMT Executive Director, Ralph Bussel, emphasised the importance of reinvesting in the community. He highlighted that the invitations had been extended to local authorities across the region to partner with NIMT in supporting youth enrollment efforts. Arandis and Usakos’ local authorities responded proactively, and Bussel once again encouraged others to follow suit. Commending Valencia’s contribution, he stated, “You are opening the doors of the future for these students.”

Pine Van Wyk, Country Director of Valencia Uranium, challenged the students to strive for excellence, noting that the company’s continued investment in youth development depends on visible impact. “Top-performing students will be supported throughout their studies, practical training, and may even be considered for permanent employment at the mine,” Van Wyk said. He also urged students to take responsibility for their personal growth and embrace a mindset of continuous learning.

The Former Mayor of Arandis, Risto Kapendah, extended his heartfelt gratitude to Valencia Uranium, calling the initiative “a dream starting to come true.”
